↟ Break Away Tale NR 175 //  @tinyhousetwintravels

We are Ally and Kevin and we live in a traveling 272 square foot tiny house with our 3 year old twin boys, Bodhi and River. Prior to going tiny, we were living the “American Dream”, but we weren’t happy. Kevin was working extremely long hours for a large corporation and I was drowning as a stay at home mom. If this was “the dream”, we wanted nothing to do with it. I’m not going to lie, we were rather impulsive. We made the decision to go tiny in September of 2017, hired a builder and listed our home the following month and sold or gave away almost everything we owned in just a few weeks. By January of 2018, we moved into our tiny home and immediately headed south. ⠀

We spent 7 months traveling the west coast of the US with our tiny, our Dodge Ram and rambunctious twins. It was exhilarating, exhausting, freeing and frustrating. There has been a learning curve, but ultimately I can’t imagine our lives any other way. I remember the first night we slept in the tiny because I spent hours lying in bed wondering what the hell we had gotten ourselves into (which is very unlike me... twin moms in particular value sleep... more than anything). I was terrified we had made a mistake we couldn’t come back from. ⠀

After almost a year of living tiny, we are so grateful for this experience. We have grown more than we could have ever imagined as humans and as parents. This life has allowed us to live minimally, spend a large amount of our time in nature, appreciate experiences over things, consume less and give more, spend quality time with our children, find gratitude and a general sense of not sweating the small stuff. ⠀

This life and our dreams morph and change everyday, but we are certain that we will continue to pursue a life that makes us happy and will not allow anyone else to define what that looks like.⠀
